Joan Mitchell was born in Chicago on February 12th. She attended the School of the Art Institute of Chicago where she studied Fine Arts. After school, she traveled all over the world, drawing inspiration from the various countries she visited. She eventually moved to Paris and stayed there, creating artwork. She is an abstract artist who utilizes bright colors. She mainly paints, but she also works with pastels and printmaking. She once said, “My paintings are titled after they are finished. I paint from remembered landscapes that I carry with me – and remembered feelings of them, which of course become transformed. I could certainly never mirror nature. I would more like to paint what it leaves with me.”

I like how you included that she names her paintings after they're done- I thought that was interesting :)
